Stories

Today we read on our porch. The weather is a bit cloudy today and it was nice to be outside. After awhile it was too chilly so we came inside. After reading several books my eyes were getting very sleepy. L who is 7 and J who is 4 are going to contribute to our blog posts by telling about the books and what they liked and disliked about the books we are reading. So, here it is in their words...
L is going to review
L's first thought are these kids are crazy because one of them was smashed by an enormous bulletin board and now he is flat! They found a gold nugget in a mine, but they didn't touch it at first. It fell into a cowgirl's boot. Both L and J liked this book! L liked this book because it took place at Mount Rushmore and learned about Mount Rushmore at school this year. J likes Flat Stanley because he is flat like a pancake!
The Berenstain Bears books are some of L and J's favorites to check out from the library. Today we read...Papa's day Surprise, Too Much Pressure, and Lend a Helping Hand. Sometimes the Berenstain Books feel a bit long, but for the most part teach good lessons.

the story project

We began the The Story Project last summer, but did not make it much past June. We are starting it again this summer with the hopes that it will continue on throughout the year. The Story Project is our family activity to keep our brains working by reading and having fun at the same time! Our goal is to read the books in our home and then write about our experiences on this blog.
We will also read books that we have checked out from our local library. We would LOVE to receive ideas on books to read. If you have any recommendations please leave a comment.

about me

A. Schoonie
I began collecting books when I was in high school. I would buy a book any chance I had. While I was in college I took a Children's Lit class. It was my favorite class of all time. Anytime anyone I knew had a book order I would buy children's books. This has continued with own little friends(aka..my children). You can find books in each room of our home! Books are one my passions and story time with my friends is a daily ritual!
